House Concerts
"House Concerts" are a venerable tradition in some parts of the country. The term is mostly self-explanatory, however the rationale and benefits are not necessarily so.
To stage a "House Concert," a professional or polished performer is solicited to do a "mini' concert, often while enroute to a more "big-time" gig.
The venue is usually a private home, as opposed to a hall or auditorium, hence the name.
The audience size is limited by the venue. Payment is usually far less than the same  artist would expect under other circumstances, often collected in the form of a good-will offering. Overnight lodging is sometimes included, and a "potluck" is sometimes a feature.
Benefits are multiple. The setting is informal and intimate, and the seating is always better from any part or corner of the room. One can see the performer "up close and personal." The artist is accessible at the "break" for face-to-face relating. Requests are easy to transmit. "Singing along" is often invited.
Lyrica Music arranges for House Concerts, or as we like to call them, "up close and personal" concerts, in Delta Junction from time to time. These provide for entertainment, and for "inspiration" for aspiring local performers.
We have had appearances by Mike Stackhouse and Susan Grace of Fairbanks. Another concert locally featured Adam Miller, "autoharp virtuoso." Recently, we attended a house concert in Fairbanks featuring Bryan Bowers.

" Forget balance. There is no line between personal life and professional life, especially if you care a lot about what you do."
